About Me
I have always been a creative person since I was a young child. I find art therapeutic for my soul. I started Designs by Lex when I had to undergo a major surgery which left me out of work for several months. During that time, I was looking to make some extra income to help supplement my household needs and also to occupy my mind as my body was healing. I have always been good with my hands from crocheting to pottery, drawing to painting and so on.
Nevertheless, I wanted to try something completely different, so I bought a Cricut machine and experimented with this for a few months. I worked with several different types of material, but paper fascinated me the most. Learning how I could manipulate a single sheet of paper into different shapes and objects, the creativity in my mind just went wild. The first paper flower I made was a rose, and the first shadow box I made was for a former teacher of mine as a thank you gift in February 2022. After I made the first piece, I put a few other products up online on Facebook marketplace to see if anyone liked it and it quickly gained a lot of attention. I then proceeded to my first craft show in April of 2022 at the Mom Market Halifax for their Easter market and again people loved what I was doing and wanted more.
I quickly realized that I was onto something, and although I bought the machine for temporary usage, thinking I was really only going to make gifts for my friends and family, it rapidly flourished and here I am a few years later as an entrepreneur with an established business and I could not be anymore proud of myself.

Co-creation is what we strive for in our bespoke pieces and you
can choose to be involved in as MUCH or as LITTLE as you'd
like to be throughout the process.
